Bloodletters

This squad of bloodletters was going to be my entry for a Squad Painting competition at Throneofskulls.com, but I did not finish them in time, so here they are now. When the new bloodletter plastics came out I knew that I didn't really like them. They just didn't seem menacing or as demonic to me. I preferred the previous edition of bloodletters with axes, hooves, and armor. This squad of bloodletters is my first attempt at converting the plastics to something more akin to the previous edition. I am not completely happy with the outcome, and my next squad is going to have some changes to the gs work, and possibly will also have axes.

The painting is only worth a 5 but this is a 7 overall including the converting. I think if you work some chaos 8 pointed star style arrow heads into the armor as well as the khorne symbol and spikes/spines it will make all the difference. as i remember the old artwork had them more bent over with a curved spine and thin waist with spikes often coming from their spine. and the generally had the spiked collar of khorne. (I have the realms of chaos books) if there is going to be one bloodletter that stands out as a pack leader then you can work the symbol into the horns by joining them together. Back to the pose. the original art had them with swords but due to the bloodletters pose they were often pointed down on an angle either fore or aft depending on if the model was charging or standing still looking for another target. A+ for the attempt. with all the plasics and options out there these days not many ppl do anything other than parts swaps anymore.
