1:32 scale (54mm) Resin Gypsy Vanner Mare Sculptor: Stacey Tumlinson - Tabaskeau Studios Painter: Kathryn Loch - Equine By Design Mixed Media - Black spots on body are dry pigments applied in layers from light to dark and sealed with clear matte sealer on each layer until desired color was achieved. White is several layers of thinned acrylic, and the pinking in certain areas of her skin a light flesh tone acrylic glaze. The mane and feathers on the legs are white acrylic, accented with gray and off-white glazes. She has blue eyes which were wet-blended with acrylics and a tiny amount of ink then glossed. Hooves are also acrylics and colored pencils blended to give natural hoof variation then sealed with brush on gloss.

Thank you so much, me_in_japan, for your very kind words and your generous vote. I really appreciate it and I'm so glad you like her, and recognize the hard work that went into her. Yes, she's not your stereotypical SF/Fantasy mini. I have to admit, I do like being a bit different, but on the other hand, horses are very much a part of our miniature painting world. I don't like seeing when a major part of the piece is treated like an afterthought. While the rider may be the actual subject, the horse takes up over 60% when you consider size. I enjoy seeing a well-painted miniature just as much as the next hobbyist. So I hope to see more artists put as much care and attention into their horses as they do the riders. ;) Thank you again for your wonderful comments.

This mini deserves a higher rating. I know it isnt yer stereotypical fantasy/sf mini, but it's a wonderful example of its type. The tight but smooth transition from black to white in the coat is spot on, and the pinking around the muzzle is wonderfully natural. 10 from me.
