15mm Priest of the Octopus God
"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"
The hideous being gesticulated wildly, waving the knife and howling incomprehensible speech at the rude altar and its robed followers. The thing on the altar was itself ghastly - a squatting toad-like figure with a tentacled face and shriveled wings, crudely carved from some ichorous-looking green stone.
I cowered in my hiding place, fearing a hideous fate should the beings discover me. To a one they were armed, most with knives and long pronged tridents, but a few with modern rifles. The black, steaming swamp surrounding the cult's clearing offered no hope of escape or further refuge should I try to flee.
As the rite escalated in fury and noise, the creatures writhed and cavorted in the flickering torchlight. Even amidst the roaring gibberish of the "sermon" I could make out mutterings among them, mostly nonsense, until I realized that a smattering of thickly-accented English was discernible. At this, my blood was frozen in my veins, for I realized, with a churning tide of horror, that the tentacled throng before me had once been men!
A Khurasan Miniatures figure.
