Bulette attack!

Diorama of a Bulette bursting out of the ground after its preferred meal, a juicy Halfling in his hole. Disrupting breakfast! ...Or was that second breakfast? :p This classic D&D Bulette is Reaper's "Burrowing Horror" with body extension done in sculpty and Greenstuff. The fleeing Halfling is Reaper with a replacement hand from GW and greenstuff. The base and house are mainly sculpty/fimo with Greenstuff and milliput used as necessary for adhesion of the parts. Various debris is being thrown out the house by the monster. Which can be scratch sculpt or from Reaper, Dark Ages, Griffin, GW, Starbucks or whatever I had around at the time. Most of the vegetation, such sticks and roots leaves are pointed away from the impact shock as well. Everything was arranged to accommodate the monster bursting forward. It was hard to know where to stop with the mess as so much could conceivably be contained in a house. These photos are not quite the final product, as I fumbled taking it out of the box to show the customer before Gencon. Some bits were reglued, replaced or repainted slightly before the contest. This mini was a commission for the fellow who drew up the first stats/description of the Bulette for TSR. Guess I got a little over enthusiastic trying to get the details just right for Mr.Kask. Since I was waiting around Gencon anyways, thinking nothing of it, I entered the diorama in the 2011 Gencon Miniatures Painting Competition. Really it didn't seem to stand a chance in that contest. :/ But then to my utter shock it was awarded 1st in Diorama, Best in Show, a pile of goodies from Coolminiornot, along with 1st from Reaper's manufacturer prizes. *wow* More pics at http://www.coolminiornot.com/285513 http://www.coolminiornot.com/285362 Many thanks!
