Thousand Son - converted

First Thousand Son I've painted, converted from a Berzerker. I know the left picture is a bit blurred, hopefully I should be able to adjust that soon. I tried to re-create the Thousand Son sketch in the Index Astartes article. Not sure if Regal & Shining are the right shades of Blue & Gold to use for TS though? The Berzerker model I used was PLASTIC, so how the hell can metal be showing thru??? And it IS entirely covered, there are no 'gaps' in the paint.....

Nice and tidy model - definitely needs shading and highlighting though. Even for an army model it's not too much of a mission, especially if you have a steady enough hand to paint all those stripes. Enchanted blue is usually mixes well with Regal for highlighting. Either the colour in the picture is quite off, or you need a new pot of Shining Gold - it looks more like silver, and it should be a deep warm gold. The silvery colour looks quite cool, but if you're after the traditional colour scheme it's not quite right. It also could use inking - go for a diluted mix, perhaps of brown and black on this colour, and try playing with some extender or flow-aid to avoid the annoying patchy mess that inks usually leave. I'd probably go for a stronger yellow too, eg golden yellow+sunburst yellow, as they'll play against the blue and really boost the colour scheme for tabletop viewing. And it's quite clearly painted, not bare metal (specially on a plastic fig...)! I guess not everyone turned their eyeballs on :)

Did you finish painting it? Is that painted or the metal showing? Take some time to paint over the area with a metallic gold and make sure to prime your models next time. Nice freehand on the shoulder and tabard.
