unreleased TSR D&D Ogre Samurai

A rather rare Dungeons & Dragons Japanese Ogre sculpted in 1985 by David C. Sutherland. This figure was never put into retail production, but about 100 copies were cast and distributed within TSR. This was a commission intended to display this figure and yet be able to also protect it against mishap as it is lead, very soft and also valuable. The ogre itself is far from a great sculpt and the casting...wellllll....weapons are slightly miscast and paper-thin, requiring much filling, filing and reinforcing. It was very difficult to find much to improve on the mini itself, so I threw the GW slave girl in for interest. There is some freehand to compliment the mini's sculpted flowers on his clothing.

I like the sculpt, but your excellent paint job probably sells it well (the golden flower on the bit of armor covering his, ahem, vulnerable area - wow!). The diorama is also extremely well done. Thank you for this interesting presentation.
