This one was tricky to pull off. To get that certain hue I had to got through four layers of carefully placed transparent wash. so you get an idea of the intricacy, the model originally had red skulls on a white background. since then i have added six layers of transparent and opaque paint, all of which was carefully placed, and no one of which covers the entire model.

I like it. I think it's one of the more innovative paint jobs on a storm raven. I understand wanting to keep the skull artwork faded, but the rest of the features of the ship are faded as well because of the lack of highlights on the edges, bits, and guns of the model. I think an extra 1-2 hours of time spent on highlights, and perhaps a complimentary color on the cooler scale, would really help your faded skull concept shine.
