I think you did a pretty good job with this one. I like those learn to paint kits and had the same troubles you did. I think a lot of it had to do with the brush(es) that came with it.
I think the sword turned out pretty nice! But try being more gradual when applying paint. More coats and more dilusion with water, the paint seem ragher thick at places. Another think with metals are contrast and the use of tiny reflective highlights. Sven
