Witch Elf

I just finished painting my second witch elf. I tried to make the stockings look like fishnet stockings from the 1980s. I have really enjoyed painting these minis so I plan to buy more and try to do an entire unit of them.

I love your color scheme on this mini.... They compliment one another very nicely! Very nice face/eyes/hair and overall, clean line painting. I am not a great fan of blacklining, as I believe it lends to an unrealistic look; instead, I prefer to use a darker shade of skintone where skin meets clothes or metal. If you're using thinned ink washes for shading the skin(as I do) to eliminate harsh lines simply thin your basecoat flesh and wash over the ink, with as many coats as necessary to blend the two without erasing the shading. After this you're ready to highlight the skin with a lighter shade of fleshtone....and again, if your highlighting is too prominent, simply wash over it with thinned(milk consistency) base flesh to blend it all together. You even painted fingernails and lipstick...I'm impressed and your efforts are showing!:o)

Well, I am thinking that the skin isn't too bad here. If you mixed half and half between those two colors and blended the seams together... it would be much smoother! You could even uses a slightly darker shade color perhaps next time! I am thinking the pink is a little over the top but the biggest area that would help with the skills would be to blackline a little around the details! It would help to seperate things and make the details stand out much more :D - Glyn

Thanks again for the very nice comments. I am going to see if I can fix the skin tones. This is my first attempt at painting skin more than one color. I also agree with you on the fishnet stockings. I am going to see if I can improve them as well. Thank you very much!
