Illithid - Gigantic Miniatures Mystery Monster
When Chris Clayton (GiganticDark) released his own 120 mil figure range, each figure came with a part of a mystery monster which turned out to be this Illithid (Mind Flayer). So as a great fan of D&D and the old Spell Jammer setting I was very keen to get it painted. Originally I had an idea for some sort of Spell Jammer setting with an Illithid pool helm, but I just couldn't get the setting right without having to go to a much larger base and that would have dwarfed the figure so after 3 or 4 re-designs I ended up keeping the wooden panelling and some sort of mystic liquid filled pit.
