Master of the Fleet

One of my later attempts at painting. Paint is starting to fleck off, but I was told to upload my best work so people could point me in the right direction. So fire away guys.szqa

Not bad if it's a simple gaming piece. The picture could be in focus of course, so your probably getting a full pt down just there. And obviously the flaking. Be sure to seal it well, especially if you're going to be gaming with it. Anyway, on to actual painting critique. It's very clean, and by that I mean there doesn't appear to be a lot of misplaced brush strokes, so that's solid. Shading and highlights would be the obvious place to work on. It doesn't seem like there's much, if any at all.

You've got good base colors down! Now just investigate using inks and highlighting techniques. Go from darkest to lightest and really try to get some good shadows in there! It's a good start so keep going!

Im no master of painting but i think i can give some tips. 1. Prime your model with a spray paint, Decent paint for learning and practice is the standard spray primer paint from your local hobby store. (this will help with the flaking issue) 2. Buy some washes and try them out, probably they guy in the store can point you in the right direction of which you need. 3. Make the base, it is easy and quick to make a decent base and it really lifts the model. Totally worth the effort even if its only for tabletop gaming. 4. As a higher class you could read up on colour theory to see how you react to different colours as this model has many different colours you dont really know where to look, also highlighting with drybrushing could be good to check. 5. paint more models, practice, practice, practice, practice :) Btw the gold rim on the shoulderpad looks very good!
