My piece of advice here. Polish your basic skills, do things the "hard" way, and when you feel comfortable with your results, move on to the "cheats", like Bent Brush said. The extra point comes from the fact that this is a cool chick mini ;)

Bent Brush
Well you could move to drybrushing, shading and so on or, you could learn how to use the MINWAX Polyurethane and that will improve your paint with out too much effort.
