I think the main thing that your figure needs is a better picture. And actually, most of that is that the picture needs to be bigger. It is hard to make out the detail that I can sorta tell you put in there.
You hit all the basics I look for, color, baseing, on and on, but it looks like you did more, some nice shading on the armor & good highlighting all around. The haft of the spear looks to have grain to it also.
Shot at a higher resolution so you can give us bigger pictures, double check your varnish, I can pick up some lighting reflections, so maybe a more matt spray like Testors would be a good idea.
Keep up the work, lets see more from you, I would love to see what you could do with a more dramatic piece with more varied detail for you to work with. Good job.
