Another work in progress. Any tips or pointers would be greatly welcome, i think i am struggling with neatness of highlights and smoothness of paint coverage?? Not being able to take a photo doesn't help either!
For good photos, if you don't have a nice indoor setup, trying taking them outside with lots of natural light all around. It will help be able to see all the photo and not have to worry about too harsh lighting or shadows.
You're highlights are looking fine so far. The thinner your paint layers the smoother the coverage - but the trade off is you have to do more layers and it takes longer and longer. Are you using the new citadel metallic paints? The metals still look quite grainy - that is a problem with the paint, not the painter. The pigment is quite big and chunky regardless of what you do to it. If you run a thin black wash over the silver and brown over the gold it will help them look smoother and more in scale. Then you can highlight bits of them and it will look more like metal than the metal paint.
Otherwise your painting looks quite neat. You haven't painted over bits or gone outside into the wrong area on any bits I Can see and that's one of the hardest things to learn in mini painting! Looking forward to seeing it finished :)
