Hi!
=)
No I have not sharpened the picture. I blurred out the background and I used the macro mode on my digital cam. The lighting is really bad and Im in great need to fix a rooflight and maybe take the pictures in a photo tent (not sure if thats the correct word to use. I just translated from swedish to english and thats the best term I could come up with). A tripod would be helpful too I guess.
The cross is painted in gold actually but your right, the robes and the skintone on the monk are far to close in resemblance. I wanted him to look pale and almost sick but I should have chosen another colour on the robe. Does the blue colour work on the hood?
The miniatures got a pretty rough surface because of the oil paint I used. I should have thinned the paint more and painted with more layers.
Thanks for the comments. Its really appreciated and probably the best way to go if I want to become a better painter. I´ll try to blend instead of drybrush my figs in the future since drybrushing gives somekind of a blurry effect.
Hi Mike, while I can't comment for other people I can make a few observations. First off, the picture quality isn't that good; the focal point of the piece (the face) is muddied and blurred, which I think you realised and then tried to sharpen in an editor of some kind given the odd border the central figure has on the right hand side. Secondly, the skin and robes are far to close in colour for my tastes, making the piece a little dull in appearance - add to this the fact that the cross also seems to have been painted in a similar manner and it drags the piece down a little. Just my two pennies.
