priestess of bast

I painted my first mini in 1987. They were all Ral Partha Battletech minis and were amateurish. 20 years later I decided to paint again. I painted a few and they were okay. I decided to take some classes. One with Marike Reimer. This was the first attempt with my newly learned skills and techniques. After putting about 5-7 hours into it, I decided to abandon it and move on to the next miniature.

Yes base it. I think you have gone over it to much and got a chalk effect on the white. A good tip for painting white I got at golden demon this year was instead of starting with a grey and moving up to white, start with a good white layer and wash down to grey. This will stop it going chalky.

Good effort. However: base it!! The more practice you put in the more you'll improve, but you're right- sometimes the best thing to do is to call something finished and move on. After a while you're not painting any more, you're just tinkering.
