Dazzle

This was my main project for 2012. Still a couple of weeks left, but I don't think I'm going to manage to fit much else in before the new year. It is another of those ideas I've had knocking about for a while and I managed to trade for one of the Forge World Grot Tanks after the UK Games Day in 2011, so a lot of thanks to Adam (Sparks) for agreeing to part with one. Originally I was just going to paint the tank in a dazzle camouflage pattern (Do check Wikipedia if you are unaware of the origins of this great idea : link here) but for some reason I just thought that I should have a grot hanging off the barrel to load the metal bars, and from there I just kept thinking of more and more crew so I got the Forge World Grot Mechanics because I knew they had the figure with a grot on another's shoulders and that just saved an awful lot of work. I'd also like to thank all those people that before me some feedback at Euro Militaire, especially Peter and Tracy (Avicenna & Toosh) for the idea of using a cats whisker for grot radio operator’s aerial. It worked brilliantly and I can't suggest it strongly enough. The really good part is you can bend and flick the aerial and it snaps straight back to position. It's great fun :) A few more thanks to my mates who went to the French GD with me, you all made it a great trip. And to Mathieu for providing some feedback at the pre GD meet-up, it was great to see you again and I'll try and bear it all in mind when I get round to my next vehicle. Finally for those interested in work in progress pictures and designs there are a series of blog articles I wrote while working on the project over at Schrodingers Box. There are also some details on OZ Painters and Platoon Britannica and I’ll try and get a summary posted up here soon. Oh, almost forgot, GD France 2012, Diorama, Bronze ……. YES!!
