Saurus Warrior

This is my third mini. I'm currently just practicing painting until I get some techniques down so I can produce a presentable army. This was done with only what comes in the Citadel starter kit.

Thanks! It sounds like I'm on the track you suggest. I have the files and x-acto and just ordered a dozen more paints to try out. I would like to try some glazes and purpose made washes next. I have an airbrush on order (I hope I'm getting too far ahead of myself with that one). I bought a battalion box of Lizardmen, so I think that should keep me occupied for a while. Thanks for encouraging words. I hope this will be a benchmark so we can all see how I improve over the upcoming months.

Nice third try (so I gave you an encouraging 6) ! My experience is that having a LOT ("the whole bunch") of tools and paintings is a very good way to improve : I started painting 20 years ago fantasy minis with only basic colours (red/blue/yellow, some metallics, one brown, black & white), one brush and a few 2d hand tools of big files, sand paper & a cutter... But when you have half a dozen of different greens or blues it's easier to light or shadow your minis instead of always mixing paints; when you use pigments weathering is a formality; when you got fine needle files, an X-acto, a hand drill and so on, cleaning is much more easy & speedy etc. So don't hesitate to invest in tools & materials rather than in minis, to get proud of your job and not being discouraged of "poor" results. And search for the experience of older/better painters to learn their tricks. Good luck and happy painting (as Jarhead would say)
