plastic dwarven warrior

This mini is the first (and only) one I've ever finished. I've been reading about painting, watching the beautifull photos on this site, buying miniatures, and converting minis, for quite some time now; but I've never really gotten myself so far as to take a brush and start painting. Untill some months ago. This mini took me a long time to finish, because since I've read all about those great advanced techniques I also wanted to use them (on my first mini). Quite foolish, I know. At the end, this mini took me such a long time, that I decided to just quickly put some last paint on it (the 'gold'), and quickly base it; just so I could say I completed a mini. Last week I bought a digicam, and this is a test shot, which came out ok (->the mini isn't much better in real life) [test shot settings (against all 'how to take pictures of miniatures'-advice): no macro, no tripod, flash, auto settings]

This is absolutely fantastically painted for a first ever painted figure! I love the face and the beard. A ittle darklining between the fingers of the gloves would really help them stand out. I would just like to say that i hate you, because i can't paint this well after having painted for 20 years (not really on the hating, but i am jealous). Shaz

yes, very nice for a first. things like the gloves and the wings could use a good dark wash--would help loose that "cartoony" look. keep it up!
