This is my Ulthwe Farseer, being backed up by some Guardian chumps. It's also my first post to Cool Mini or Not, so I'm curious how that goes. Thanks for looking.
Nice attempt on the painting! It's very well done. And neat. Yes ulthwe is a hard scheme to push your highlights further from the base.only advice I can give is something I learned on here. When dealing with a color like black you have to remember black is = dark grey! So when we talk highlighting your talking bout highlighting a dark grey with a beige color thrown into your highlight mixes! Even when we discuss shading , it's hard to shade black with anything darker than itself. But if we lay black shading into a dark grey then it produces some nice results. My color recipe for my base color black is1:1:2chaos black: scorched brown: commando khaki !Try this out adding a little more Komondor khacki as you increase the highlights.. Pure commando khacki alone would be applied on the edges of models if it's got an edge and it's black( remember dark grey) it's getting a few (few because it's still transparent enough so you control the intensity directly: intensity= how saturated you want it to look) glazes of commando khaki ! Keep up the work it's still well painted. Any?s lemme know bud!
@Kretcher - I struggled with that and the Ulthwe scheme. It easily shifted to gray/Tron. Do you have any samples you could link to, of people who pulled off a contrasty Ulthwe?
