Maybe work a bit more at your color choices for your sky-earth. The dark green just really doesn't look right. As Dragonsreach mentioned, thin down your paints some. Your keep definition while allowing for better blending.

actually, i think the surfaces pointing upward - like his left forearm - wouldn't reflect the horizon line, just the sky...

You've got the principles of SE-nmm right now you just need to thin your paints to get a smooth and effective finish.
