I have no real experience painting 15mm, so I may be out of my lane, but since you asked for hints, I will throw one out there. I believe, with smaller models, simplicity is always best. In effect, using very small hints and variations, and a few less colors perhaps, to create a bit more unity in the model. Also very small brushes!
Hello my friend! First of all make sure that your miniatures surface is clean from molds glues dust! Secondly dillute your paints until transparency and aply several layers to achieve the base coat. Third paint with the lesser amount of paint on your brush (drag it on a napkin until a little paint left on it). Fourth, use a brush with a good tip! After baseoating you can use washes for shading(dillute them a bit too)! And some lighter version of your basecolor for highlighting! Those will be enough for improvement imo! It is very hard to achive a good and clear result on such a small mini!! Good luck!! (I hope i was helpful) :-))
