you could improve your job just adding painted eyes to horses and changing the way you texture the base
do not cover it completely with the flock but at first use sand allover the base. Then you paint the sand and, at the end, you put glue in some point of the base to glue the flock. only small area of grass you need on the base, not a football field, so that the job on the sand you have done is not completely covered!
