It's a good idea to study muscles this way. I've also done that when I started and am doing it again to see if it's easier for me now. You're not quite there yet, so when you're done, put it aside for a while and then compare with a anatomy book. One bit of advice, define the muscles more. Make cuts and edges sharper and deeper. Accentuate the volumes. On our scale we have to do that to make things more clear.
I'm sure the rating will rise once they're finished. Looks like a good clean start. I allways use a single wire for the leg armature but your idea of twisting two together might actually be better. Should make it easier for the greenstuff to stick at least.
