LIBRARIAN TURMIEL

Librarian Turmiel from the Dark Vengeance set. Was a challenge to paint and nothing is more humbling than seeing full size photos of your work but I think I am headed in the right direction. Scratch built flagstone base. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Love all the little details (script on the scrolls etc), agree that you just need a little more contrast to make the shape really pop out.

Thanks for the feedback. Ill look at the article. Sounds much like the zone system that Ansell Adams used to print his photos.

The model is very cleanly painted but try to add in more contrasts. This is easily rectified because you can go back anytime to do this. Your adding in not taking away. You have the brush control so lay in the shades and further build up more highlights it's about contrast the scale we work at doesn't catch shadows like the human form does.so contrast is the key you'll here it over and over from top artists " push the contrasts" that means between light and dark shades and highlights. Look at oz painters mainly medieval article " the stop sign rule" it tells you by giving number values to parts of the mini 5 ) is highlights taken all the way to white. And the value of 0) where no light hits taken all the way to black. This should help you et me know if there is any questions.
