You're right about the wheels, especially because the human eye perceives motion much better than color. But the pictures that I found shows the 221 wheels with this painting. Interestingly there is a photo of Jean Restayn showing 221 victim of a impact precisely on wheels ... must have been a tempting target in the battle ...
I have pictures of the 331, the 131 and 007 (Michael Wittmann) that shows the wheels as you say, more "monochromatic".
As for weathering, I agree with you, but as it was the first time that I got "hit" this camouflage, I choosedo not to "make it dirty".
Yes, I used Tamiyia paints, enamel, but the kit is from Dragon, one of the best on this scale, 1:35, with motor, dozens of Photo Etcheds and excellent zimmerit.
very nice camouflage you painted there. Although the weels were often (but not always) done in a single color each (otherwise the rotation would make them more visible)
I also think it would benefit from a bit more weathering and mud effects
otherwise very nicely done. Did you use a tamiya kit and colors?
