I think the drybrushing actually caused the grainy like texture. But yes I did put the paint on a bit thick with this. The Hellhound I am currently working on is going a lot better.
When you are painting a large and flat area it's better to use a number of thin coats, instead of one thick coat that seems to be making this model look grainy.
