Al-Cheapo Dread (Really Dreadful indeed!)

Older gamers might remember back during the Rogue Trader days where GW really had limited resources and gamers had to customise or scratchbuild their own gaming pieces...remember that old “flyer” with a beakie SM on it? Ah, the nostalgia.. Since the arms of the Emperor stretches to a thousand thousand worlds, In this part of the planet I called this warmachine a Porean Dreadnaught because I’m Singaporean (hah!). Weapons include 2 up-sized lightning claws (deluxe, jumbo, big, whatever) and a tr-linked heavy bolters. This is actually a Gundam model kit (Mobile Kapool or something) that nobody really wants-looks like a mutant golf ball..…..most prefer the Gundam kits depicting the heroes or more popular Zakus..(now for mecha heads who doesn’t?). I come across them piling way up selling for 3 dollars each (that’s about USD1.70 each, equal to say, 25 times less the price of the official Dread). Building it was fun and relaxing because unlike dealing with an expensive model (where for me there is pressure to make it look really good), I can make it look any old how I like. Throw in a bit of VDR (this is in Chapter Approved 4th edition, go get this for customizer freaks out there!), and vola ! He goes to the battlefield ! For purist screaming: ”This is not official!!”, I have this to say: ”Oh, okay, bring your army down here for an “unofficial” game if u dare then, he can still kick your butt!” Then again, we all want to have a good time, don’t we?

I miss the days when this stuff was legal, I still have an Ultramarine Hover Tank made out of a Speed Stick container. I wonder if I could use it as a Counts As for a Landspeeder now a days. Overall pretty cool, seems a bit too large, but who cares.
