Black is a tough colour to paint - try highlighting with dark blue, purple or even a green mixed in. I she that thinking your paint would be a great step to improving the control you have while painting. Experiment with water or any thinners you want to try, but I would personally try water first. Hi there, really good effort here, I can see you take pride in your minis. I think your paint needs thinning, use Valejo or airbrush thinners to do this, not water as this makes your paint chalky. I can see that you have used highlights/weathering. Use washes for lowlights, the face would benefit from a wash. Take your highlights through more shades too, rather than just a dot of the liner colour. Go from the original shade lightening the blend little by little until you reach the lighter blends. I think that will help whilst you learn. I'm learning too and these are the things I have found improved my minatures the most. Cheers.
