This is my latest effort. I have not aimed for historical correctness, but more a focus on doing something different. Comments and criticisms are heavily encouraged.
@Thau: thank you so much
@Maenas: I appreciate the feedback! It's simply amazing getting more painters to comment on the work. I won't claim artistic innovation for the base. The whole project was done as an educational process following the PaintingBuddha series. As you said, it is a breath of fresh air, and I had great fun doing this, and experimenting. This is a bit larger, on the 75mm scale. You can find it here if you are interested: http://ferminiatures.com/shop/fahrenheit-project/corporal-19th-indiana-volunteer-infantry-regiment-iron-brigade-1862/
You are correct about the weakest points. It is the first time i worked on such a detailed face, and this will definitely help me improve!
Thank you once again!
PS My picture taking abilities need to be sharpened :)
I like the base a lot, you did a great job on it, and it goes very well with the miniature.
Changing from the usual "warhammer" miniature is nice, it's like fresh air. You can also try a larger scale like 54 or 75mm and you will have lots of room to experiment there. (not sure if this one is already a 54mm. though)
Shadowing of the feet, trousers and right arm (picture viewer's side) seems to be more than correct to me, but I cannot assure it because the pic is a bit dark in some areas.
Face and hat seems to be the weakest point, but again I am not sure because of the lighting.
