When I painted my Heroquest figures, I gave the skeletons and the mummies a rust brown wash, the orcs I gave a light green drybrush on the skin and a basecoat on the clothes and a dry brush on that. Sadly, to this day, those ten minute paint jobs look as good on the table as just about anything else I've done.
One trick I used in the past is to prime the mini in a red-brown or rust brown. Then to drybrush a ivory white over the whole thing. The trick is to wipe all the paint from the brush and have a fine hair brush. This should give you a lite dusting of paint. Then wash the mini with a dark brown after you paint anything else. This will give you a aged look with alittle practice. I will post a pic of one of my skeletons that I painted in this style. Just keep painting!!!
Hi. Don't worry about painting, practice is the secret of triumph. This skeleton is quite well painted, but next time try not to drybrush all the mini and instead of this, paint bone by bone. I can assure you that the final ending is much much better! I love the blood at the blade. Try to highlight the stick a little bit more with light brown next time, ok? Continue painting (and sorry for my poor English), Albert ;)
