the main thing that stands out the most are the eyes on the men. if it was a year ago you may have already picked this up but remember that an eye generally has no white above and below the iris. having white above and below makes them stare.
For this being the first thing you've done your starting out good. Your next step should be to start trying shading and/or highliting. Paint the barrel holes black too.
