I never played the skirmish game, nor do I even play D20 anymore, but I've always loved the Chainmail figs. I probably have 30-40 of them altogether (only half of them painted).
You absolutely are not the last fan of them- I'll go down with ya! heh ... I bought so many of these when they all went half off and then 75% off ... I just have so much lead! In particular here I like the natural wood on the club! neat touch - foolishly I would have gone with a standard brown ...
