I see you had fun with "nihilack oxide" on the pants and ont he blade of the sword. I see your effort on painting his eye.
I think the part you worked more on this miniature is the skin, I see some lights and some shadows, I would like to see that work also on the pants, the gun and the sword. Doing that might gain you an entire point on the votings...
If you want an "easy" way to give a nice effect on the gun you can try to drybrush it with a metallic paint. It is a fun technique and if you do it properly you can have great results (for playing and learning) in no time.
On another note nihilack oxide is intendes to use as rust from a bronze/cooper metal, on silver and steel it looks a bit strange, although you might be trying to give somewhat a blue glow as if it was a powersword or something... do not know.
Have fun, and search over internet or even on these forums for more info. GW has also great tutorials to start painting miniatures and having fun with it. With a bit more practice you'll see your votings will go up ;)
