Just a thought: The Emperor's Champion is supposed to have an Iron Halo which I think will have to be the green thingy on his head. But hey! If you want it green, then just keep it green.
I myself haven't made up my mind regarding my own EC since I paint all "veteran" models with white helmets - the metal just doesn't come out right against the white...
