Thanks. I do in fact struggle with faces/skin tones at times, especially with the older folks. I really appreciate the tips. Going to look into that pamphlet.
In my opinion, ths easily rates a score of 7, or even an 8 ... with the exception only of the work on the face, a (or the) natural focal point for viewers. While the majority of the model is painted to a very good display standard, the face falls just shy of the mark. A fold-out how-to pamphlet, included in the Vallejo 8-bottle face/skin colors boxed set, offers an excellent step-by-step tutorial (including photos(and paints)) which could help, and there are many fine videos on YouTube illustrating the ways to produce an outstanding face, which can be a problem in this tiny scale. The face is quite good as is -- it just isn't up to the same level as the rest of the miniature, and some improvement in painting faces, particularly shadows and highlights, should be all the help necessary for such an obviously already talented painter.
