Gutlagg the Executioner

This is an old Ogre from GW.. still prefer them instead the new miniatures. I have based it with real wood painted and lightly drybrushed. The wine out of the barrel is done with PVA glue and purple ink. Paolo

Some parts are better than others, but the overall effect is great. In the spirit of constructive criticism: The barrel, the axe head, the hanging head, and the ogre's face are really fantastic. The boots look hastily done, though - the drybrushed colour is too far from the base colour perhaps - and the pale blue bags are the low point for me. Especially from the rear, the figure could do with a greater depth of shadow, such as you have on the face and barrel. NMM without strong highlights always looks like plastic to me, and this is true for his waist studs and the rings hanging from the back of his hood.

Let me confess right away, I am biased. I have a soft spot for Orckage of any kind. Tis is something else however. The old sculpt is fantastic and the paintjob is first class. Look, if you will at the mask hanging from his belt, the skull in his right hand and the effect of the wood and barrel. It's all spiffing! It doesn't get a ten 'cos the blue could do with some more highlight and shading.

This ogre and the orger on the cover of Warhammer Fantasy are my all time favorite ogres. 9 abit high but this orger is painted welland like I said this is one of my favorite Ogres After seeing so many static grass and wilerness bases, I think the wooden floor an barel look excellent
