Ork Warboss

My first "character" mini for 40k. Turned out okay, but emphasized to me that when things look good or bad, or techniques succeed or fail, I don't know enough about painting to understand why.

Very clean and consistent work, and a great piece for the tabletop. I guess the next level would be to push the highlights and shades, increasing the contrast between light and dark and the detail level overall. In particular, you will want to put similar levels of attention to the small and large areas, and to colors and metals. At the moment it seems that large color areas like the face and the squig have been done more carefully than small areas like rockets and cables. As well, the metal pieces like the weapon, esp. the brass pieces look very flat. Don't get me wrong: putting most effort on faces and eyes is exactly how you do character pieces like this. But the fact these have been done so well proves that you can do a great job on the mini overall, if you want.
