Actually that is matte varnish (The GW purity seal) but I am getting some other varnish soonish. I don't like the shinyness either. Thanks for the comments both of you. I will work on improving my black highlighting... somehoe I find that the hardest.
You seem to have no problems painting 'within the lines' so all you need to do now is work on harsher highlighting & shading (I mean more contrast). Also, if you're using gloss varnish, drop that and pick up some matte. In any case, unless you're using inks or paints that tend to have a shine, just take the pics before sealing the mini -> no gloss at all.
