I really like this series of minis. I'm sure they must be a beautiful sight on the gaming table.
With minis intended for active gaming this kind of very close-up photo is rather unforgiving. I would love to see a handful of these minis on an actual gameboard - I'm sure that would look even better.
I only paint in that category myself, i.e. not for display or painting contests, but for simple gaming. I try to keep all things simple. For example, for minis with this simple (perfectly appropriate for gaming) low contrast shades and highlights, painting eyes with a white eyeball and a black pupil seems overly detailed to me. To match this level of detail, the whole face would require much more work. Just a strong shading of the face with black dots for the eyes works better at that scale (IMHO YMMV etc. pp. :)
