THE FLAYED ONES During the Vampire Wars, Vlad Von Carstein began his war against humanity by laying waste to Stirland before setting his sights on other parts of the Empire. It was here that he instilled the greatest fear into mankind, through countless tortures and evil impurity. One method that he used was to flay the skin from living specimens, hanging them upside down to slowly bleed out as their screams rang through the foulness around them. A small group of religious zealots stood against this evil, and by purifying their skin through self-flagellation they empowered themselves against the great evil. Although many of the details have been lost over time, the Flayed Ones have become an ever-present band across Stirland. Led by the Prophet of Doom Mieter Damian, this sect of holy warriors has grown into a substantial gathering. Notably preaching to the poor and disenfranchised, the poor, penniless souls of Stirland flock to join the Flayed Ones. Word has reached Prophet Damian that the dead are stirring, and that Luthor Huss himself rides to meet the threat.
