Saladin, Sultan of Egypt and Siria
Hello everyone, here's the second bust belonging to the same project of the Spanish brand FeR Miniatures, on the subject of the Third Crusade (1189-1192), highlighted by the battle of Arsuf, on September 7, 1191. The tension of the two opponents Richard the Lionheart and Saladin seems perhaps the most suggestive for assigning roles in a chess game, however it is said that the two legendary figures never met in person. The character's approach led us to think of a combination of roles in the movie world, a mix between Khal Drogo (Game of Thrones) and Aquaman (Marvel), brought closer to the year of the battle of Arsuf, when Saladin was 52 years old. The exoticism of the features of the actor Jason Momoa convinces in several roles that made him famous. The prominent figure of Saladin left a strong memory both in the world of Islam and in the Western world, where he is mentioned in European literature as the medieval knight par excellence. As the documentaries on the specialized television channels show us, in the Middle East there are even today, in the teahouses typical of the places, storytellers who praise enthusiastically aspects of the confrontation between the two medieval worlds.
