Land Raider Proteus (mk1)
I got this MkI Land raider second hand in 1994 (for 11€ of that time), it was painted (blotched might I say) with the infamously bad GW blood angel red can and the lascannon kept on falling apart. I tried modding it a lot back in my teen years to no avail (lack of skills, money and materials), damaging the model further more. The only part I kept from these days is the motor bloc on the rear, comin from a gijoe toy, because it sat right and didnt wanted to come off. In 2014, while the proteus Land Raider had been released for some years, I decided to restore to its "former" glory (it never had really). Stripping all the layers (stratification?) of spray paint was harsh, but nothing compared to sanding the misaligned tracks. I wanted to give it an updated, more detailed look, while keeping some of its goofyness. I had to rebuild the side sponsons entirely using a Terminus Land raider upgrade kit (the weapons sprues of a predator that was sold by gw at that time) and two 25mm bases. I also had to rebuild the top and front of the hull, that I destroyed in my teens, using a chapterhouse studio mkI rhino alternate front and a plastic predator/razorback top, a lot of plasticard and epoxy putty. I build it like it was 3.5Ed again with searchlight, reinforced armor and dirge caster. Then I nurglified it. I started painting the model right after conversion in 2014, with my freshly bought airbrush but never finished it. Then, yesterday, I decided to finish painting it. I m a lot more comfy with my airbrush, new paint and tools, so I painted it "ebay miniatures rescue" style, building on the previous paintjob start, using contrast paints, liquid pigments, poscas and some GSW special effect paints. So here it is, 26years after acquisition, painted. #40k #warhammer40k #landraiderproteus #landraidermk1 #nurgle Follow me on Instagram : https://instagram.com/oxyde_miniatures?igshid=ZDdkNTZiNTM=
