I started off by spraying the tank with Testors olive drab paint. Then, taking an ordinary kitchen sponge and dipping it in white paint. I dabbed most of the paint off, then went at the tank and repeated the process until it was all white except the crevices. Using black ink, I picked out rivets, seams, water channels and other details. Then I highlighted the raised areas with white paint. Finally, I added paint-chipping effects, bullet holes and mud splatters. Happy painting, comrade!

Thanks for the comments! The prisoners wear ragged clothing and beards becaue they have been neglected and abused while undergoing "re-education." The process has turned them into zealots for the cause, whose minds are so bent on destruction they no longer notice the freezing ice world winds through their tattered prison uniforms. The script on the tank is in English, but there is Cyrillic on the other side of the turret. I wrote it in English so English-speakers could read the slogans.
