Seems like you and I are in the same place skillwise. We know the theory about how to paint well, but don't have the practice to make our skills do what our mind wish to do.
A respectable effort at layering, here. It looks like you're NOT thinning your paint enough, it seems very caked on for the sword, sleeves, and totem.
I would recommend whit primer next time for these light colors (seems you used black) and use washes for shading sleeves, robe interior, fingers. After the wash, then bring out the lighter colors with a good brush.
