Atlanta Gamesday Entry - Nurgle Champion

This was my entry to the Demon competition in Atlanta. I did not make the cut, but I am proud of this model for the freehand and the almost-effective NMM. I am happy with the blade on the shoulder - that dark rusty sort of metal look I think came out well. The regular NMM and the sword itself were not quite as good, though I do still like the sword overall. And yes, I was inspired for the shield design and the dark metal by Taka's Nurgle Champion. :)

The use of green, the fly on the shield & the pallid look of the purple to the face reaaly make this dude look sweet..... or should I say um, sour, for Nurgle of course.

The face, armour and gold are great. I'm not keen on the sword or the fly but thats a personal taste thing, the painting is fine. I think the base lets it down, the slime and skull are good, but the rocks would be better if it was different sizes and had more highlighting, also they don't blend into the slime very well. Overall great work 7.5.

Love the expressive face and your use of color! I love it when an artist has no fear in his use of the color pallette....Your blending, shading and highlighting is wonderful and the rusty added bits are also a nice touch. The only thing I might have done differently, would be to make the murky sludge a more olive green, much darker than his armor. other than that, a superbly painted figure. I am quite impressed! Faye
