Chaos Lord

This mini was painted for MicroArt Studio. It was sold on eBay. The jumpack is made of some tubing, spare parts and poxyline, the lord has the Iron Warriors' metal chest and jumpackers' legs. It may be not noticeable becouse of the angle the pic was taken from, but i resculpted the face to make him smile viciously. I covered the armour of the lord with daemonic faces and lots of swirling ornaments to represent the ever- changing nature of his Daemonic Armour. The flames are sculpted with poxyline - it took quite long to paint it. The model is based on MicroArt Studio's wonderful base - it's much denser and heavier than normal base and gives the miniature the much needed stability. And the detail on the ruins is stunning! Very cool. Flames are obviously great. Nice idea.

The reason you all don't like the skin is that I wanted to make it look like fused mortal and daemonic flesh. It turned out poor on photo (the angle is not the best) - there are orange-red veins showing through the skin, which are really well highlighted and painted but I agree that on these pics they are quite confusing and look like I simply didn't know how to mix the paints. The model was covered with 3 or 4 layers of matt varnish (Humbrol) and I think this dimmed the colours, especially the skintone and veins. I know what you think is wrong but this is photo rather than mini.

Again another fantastic piece, the detailing on the armor is very dynamic and gothic, the light sourcing is well done. I do agree about the arm and the face lacking somewhat, so you only score a low 8. Cheers on your excellent work though. :)
