Dark Elves Battle Standard Bearer

So this is my second Dark Elf that I painted this autumn, after VIC entry of Corsair Champ I did this Dark Elves Limited Edition miniature from Dark Elves army boxed set. I went for the same color scheme as with Corsair Champion, ie. Shadow Grey paint for armor, brown base etc. I must say that I'm not experienced with banners. Mostly I paint Skaven banners and up to the date I either made them just like tattered and torn pieces with some Skaven runes. I won't change that for my Skaven army as I want my army to have a single overal feel. But I saw that everyone including GW is just putting runes on Dark Elves banners and so I decided to do something else. I decided for a pierced heart and I wanted to paint it just like it's real anatomy heart, not the symbolic one. As I said, I'm not experienced with banners, and to this fact I'm pretty surprised that it doesn't look too bad. After some playing with the banner design on the paper I decided not to do the large vains coming out of the heart, as the disrupted the heart and they took all the attention, leaving the heart behind. Maybe it looks strange this way to you, I don't know. For more pictures of this miniature go to http://www.espace.cz/~Honza/Gallery.asp?System=WHFB&Race=DarkElves&Model=LEBSB

great paintwork on the modell. Contrast of the Colours is cool! Banner: I think problem is that the Blade seems to be behind the heart instead of going through, nevertheless a good job on that part.

I love the gold bits and the armour. I'm not sold on the image on the banner, though, plus the runes around it look a bit sketchy.

I like the idea for the banner, you should just leave the heart as it is, but you need to put a drop of blood or something on the tip of the sword and thicken up the runes. the NMM is great though.
