Spaven

The truth is out there! They exist! SPAVEN, for SPAce skaVEN! I've got a proof. OK, I will explain... There was a discussion in Direwolf Warhammer maillist some time ago, why there is no Skaven race in Warhammer 40,000 world. Some people argued that Tyranids are ment to be Skaven reflection in 40K, some people disagread. Then a name appeared: Spaven, for Space Skaven. And I started thinking... well, is there a way I can make funny miniature of Spaven? I had ideas, some good (putting Skaven into Power Armour), some bad (giving Spaven some kind of gun, but I quickly dismissed this idea). Then Space Wolfs came out and it was clear! I could use some of their parts (like their special wolf-headed backpack) for Spaven conversion. So then I started to do the conversion and I decided on a paint scheme as well: Power Armour would be brown, which matches Skaven as well as it is unique, no Space Marine Chapter uses brown as their colour (at least all Chapters I saw) and the rest would go to greens representing the warpstone. Also the gem on backpack would be painted just like it is real warpstone embedded into backpack. I also used Space Wolf shoulder cover, where I redesined the skull to have teeth. The rest of colours plus the base for the miniature were decided so the miniature "fits" into my Skaven army. Now I will try to field Spaven as General for my Warhammer Skaven armies in every occasion I get.

Hrud are NOT space skaven. Because of their hunched appearance, they are often thought to be this, but ever read Xenology and took stock of their unhooded look? I did, and let me tell you. They're far from rats.

There is a skaven race for 40K, they are called the Hrud, not the Spaven. The Hrud is an official GW name for the space Skaven. They just don't have any miniatures or support, yet.. Cheers
