Erik Redbeard - reaper 2556

This is one of my first tries on NMM, so I'd love to hear your comments on that. One thing I'm definitely happy with on this mini, is his beard :D It came out in just the right kind of red that I wanted it to, yay. I feel like I should explain why his blade is so dark though. When I got this miniature his sword was extremely bent. It was in the blister and looking sharp, until I got him out and noticed that his sword was bent in the middle, pointing straight downwards. So i spent hours trying to get his sword to look normal and straight, which didn't really work. So I put on some green stuff to smooth out the nasty bend the sword had towards the bottom. It didn't come out very smooth though, so I decided to make it a very dark kind of sword which is black towards the bottom, to hide the fact that it is actually not very flat there.

I had the same problem with a Reaper mini. Check out my account and look at the vampire "Gabriel Darkblood". I spent a long time trying to straighten his sword out, when I finally did, I tripped over my cat and dropped it, right on the sword!!! I love the shield on this guy. The shield gets and 8.5. The NMM is REALLY good for a first try, you must have some artistic ability beyond painting minis. The beard and fur hauberk look good. The skin looks way off though...too pale, even for a red head, maybe it's the photo though. He needs to be more ruddy IMHO. The green of the cloak is kinda spotty as well. The base needs to be highlighted another step and probably flocked with something green, to add contrast and tie everything together. Those things I think are keeping your score down. That shield is Aces though.
